Well, I’m off to a rather interesting morning.

I was jarred from sleep by my cell phone alarm clock at about 10:25 am. As usual I hit the snooze button and was about to roll over to get in a few more z’s when I saw a weird leaf on my windowsill. It’s was brown and crinkly looking, but the weird thing was, it had weird spines sticking out of it. I was half asleep so it took me several seconds to realize it was an insect, and the spiny things were its legs. But this was no ordinary bug (not to me anyway). I’d never seen a bug like this where I live. Most of the stuff around here is ants, stink bugs, various types of flies, and worms on rainy days. So, I had enough wherewithal to take a few pictures of the bug.

I have more, but I think these are the best ones. Anyway, I typed a description into Google to see if I could find out what kind of insect it is; and here’s what I got: http://www.whatsthatbug.com/?p=42167

Apparently it’s a wheel bug. Cool! Never heard of them before. If you’re interested, I’ve saved you the trouble of looking for the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wheel_bug
